Certified Approver Program > CAAC Description

The Certified Approver Advisory Committee (CAAC) serves as a liaison between the Certified Approver User Group and the Office of Oversight, Analysis and Reporting (OAR). The CAAC consists of seven members who represent certified approvers at both the collegiate and department levels. Each member serves a two-year term, with half the members being replaced each year through an election held by the User Group. The CAAC chair is appointed by the Director of OAR on an annual basis.

Staff from the OAR, Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and Sponsored Financial Reporting (SFR) offices serve as ex-officio members of CAAC. The OAR office also provides administrative support for the committee.

The responsibilities of the Certified Approver Advisory Committee include:

  • provide opportunities for certified approvers to exchange information and network
  • provide certified approvers opportunities for continuing education
  • provide a mechanism for certified approvers to actively participate in the grants management process
  • review and recommend policies and standard business practices related to the financial management of sponsored projects
  • work with OAR to facilitate the functioning of the Certified Approver Program
