This policy replaces the former policies on Principal Eligibility on Sponsored Projects, dated November 12, 1999 and Delegation of Authority: Sponsored Grants and Contracts, dated December 11, 1992.
The policy can be found at: http://www1.umn.edu/regents/policies/administrative/Submit-Accept_Projects.pdf

The University has implemented a new policy on 'Procuring, Using, and Disposing of Donated Human Bodies Used for Research and Teaching.' The Anatomy Bequest Program, with the assistance of the Senior Vice President for Health Sciences and the Vice President for Research, developed this policy to ensure that donated human bodies and body parts are obtained and disposed of ethically and in compliance with federal and state regulations.

The Vice President for Research has a new administrative Openness in Research policy and procedures. This policy implements the Regents' Policy on Openness in Research, formerly known as the Research Secrecy Policy. It clarifies the circumstances in which certain restrictions in a research agreement can be accepted by the University and outlines the process for a researcher to use to request an exemption from this standard.

Contact Ed Wink, Associate V.P. for Research and Director of SPA at 612-624-1648 or ewink@umn.edu for further information about the policy.

New Procedure to Facilitate Indirect Cost Recovery Associated with Interdisciplinary Projects

Effective December 1, 2005, the OVPR implemented a new procedure to facilitate indirect cost recovery associated with interdisciplinary projects. This procedure takes advantage of the University's financial system to allow indirect cost revenues to flow to the colleges whose faculty participate in interdisciplinary research, and eliminates the limit on the number of projects that can be set up with multiple accounts.

The procedure is optional for PIs. It establishes criteria for sharing of indirect cost recovery revenue and describes what must be done to implement revenue sharing for interdisciplinary projects.

The policy is found at:  http://www.fpd.finop.umn.edu/groups/ppd/documents/procedure/cost_proc4.cfm
